A 27-year-old man hailing from Andhra Pradesh has been arrested by CB-CID police on charges of creating obscene webpages on a social networking site.
Acting on a complaint from city-based NGOs that certain community pages portrayed girl children in a ‘derogative manner’, the abusive profiles and community pages were blocked immediately with cooperation from Facebook.
Two cases were registered in Cyber Crime Cell of the CB-CID under provisions of the Information Technology Act 2000 and investigation revealed that Yadava Manikanta from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh had created such obscene Facebook community pages.

Yadava Manikanta is a diploma holder, who runs a grocery shop in the temple town of Tirupati.
Manikanta had created three online social media pages, including one titled ‘Chinna Ponnu Veriyargal’ using images of children, mostly girls, and inviting obscene messages, tantamount to child sexual abuse.
The CB-CID special team arrested the man at Tirupathi yesterday and seized the incriminating material evidence. He was brought to Chennai and remanded to judicial custody.
