A Trinamool Congress office in West Bengal's Burdwan district was destroyed in a huge blast on 7 May. It is suspected to have been caused by explosives stored inside the structure. The blast took place at the Pichkudi Dhaal TMC office in Ausgram at around 6 pm on 7 May, Superintendent of Police Kunal Agarwal confirmed.
There was a explosion inside a building and we have send requisition to the CID bomb disposal squad to find out the exact cause of the blast. We are investigating the matter.
The single-storey building is located in a sparsely- populated area, Agarwal said, adding that there was no confirmation whether anybody was injured in the explosion. Earlier reports had claimed that three people sustained injuries in the blast.
We have not found any bodies, or any reported injuries, but we are checking the entire place. It’s hearsay that some persons suffered injuries in the blast. We have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress sources alleged that some miscreants hurled bombs at the party office at Pichkudi Dhaal.
Two people were killed on 2 October 2014, after a blast levelled a house at Khagragarh in Burdwan town. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) later found that the two deceased were Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB) operatives from Bangladesh. The investigation agency took five alleged members of the banned terror outfit into custody in connection with the explosion.
