Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad’s eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav on Friday, 21 December, dismissed reports claiming that he has withdrawn his divorce plea against his wife Aishwarya Rai, according to ANI.

“I will not reverse whatever decision I took. I have the blessings of my father.”

Tej Pratap had reportedly filed for divorce at a Patna court on 3 November, less than six months after he was married. His advocate, Yashwant Kumar Sharma, had said that Tej and his wife did not get along with each other and therefore decided to part ways.

However, some media reports had claimed that Tej was mulling over withdrawing his divorce petition. But the RJD leader has dismissed all such claims, reported ANI.

Aishwarya Rai is the daughter of senior RJD leader Chandrika Rai and granddaughter of former Bihar chief minister Daroga Rai. According to Times Now, Tej Pratap had mentioned 'mental cruelty' in his divorce petition.

Tej Pratap had married Rai in a grand ceremony earlier this year in May.

Lalu Prasad had been granted bail to attend the ceremony. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, former Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan had also attended the wedding.
