The Supreme Court on Friday upheld its interim order on the Cauvery water dispute directing Karnataka to release 2,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu per day till further orders.
It said that the appeals filed by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala challenging the Cauvery tribunal decision on water sharing are maintainable.
The apex court dismissed the Centre’s stand that the Supreme Court can’t examine the Cauvery water dispute tribunal's award on water sharing among states. The next date of hearing in the matter in the court is 15 December.
