Congress President Rahul Gandhi, during his rally in Mahuva taluka of Bhavnagar district in Gujarat on Monday, 15 April, promised the crowd that he will fill up 22 lakh government job vacancies.

At the beginning of the speech Rahul Gandhi said that he had asked his economic advisers how much financial aid can be provided directly to five crore poor families in the country.

“Just as PM Narendra Modi declared the figure – Rs 15 Lakh – I also needed a number that can help the poor. In five months, my advisors returned to me with the amount of Rs 72,000. Narendra Modi lied about Rs 15 lakh whereas I can assure you that our government can put Rs 3.6 lakh in the bank accounts of 5 crore poor families.”

The Gujarat Congress had chosen Mahuva to accommodate voters from three Lok Sabha constituencies – Amreli, Bhavnagar and Junagadh. The rally was supposed to start at 3 PM but was delayed by an hour and the crowd waited for the Congress President in the stifling summer sun.

Rahul Gandhi also stressed about the rising unemployment in the country and offered a solution for the same.

“I won’t tell you that 2 crore youths will get jobs, but I will tell you this, that there are 22 lakh vacancies in government jobs which we will fill up. We can also provide employments to 10 lakh youths at the panchayat level. We can help farmers by waiving their loans. So it is up to you, at one side you have injustice and lies, on the other hand justice and truth.”

Gujarat Govt Insulted Farmers, Youth: Hardik Patel

Before Rahul Gandhi took stage in Mahuva, Hardik Patel, the new entrant in the Grand Old Party addressed the crowd and stated that the Gujarat government had insulted the farmers and youth of the state.

“The Gujarat government has insulted the farmers and youth of the state. They even go to the extent of calling Congress party a Pakistani party. They have insulted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and Mahatma Gandhi, the ones who laid the foundation of the party. Today Education, job, health are all in ruins in Gujarat as Narendra Modi has not done any development.
