1. Blood Bank Director Booked for Making Sexual Advances in Cuttack

The police on 7 June booked a case against the director of the Central Red Cross Blood Bank and a driver for alleged physical and mental torture of a woman employee, in Odisha.

The woman has alleged in her FIR that the director was repeatedly making unwelcome and explicit sexual advances and the blood bank driver was in collusion.

2. Minor Raped by 19-Year-Old in Central Delhi

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 19-year-old in the national capital on 6 June.

The victim lived in the same neighbourhood as the accused and was reportedly in the accused’s room, where he allegedly forced himself upon her, said a report.

The victim was sent for counselling and the accused was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a court.

3. Two Killed as Unidentified Shooters Open Fire in Allahabad

Two persons were killed and several others injured after assailants opened fire on them outside Naini Jail in Allahabad on 6 June, news reports said. Vakeel Yadav and Lalta were killed, while two men were seriously injured.

The incident took place in the evening around 4 pm.

The injured men alleged that the shooting was the result of a feud between a Jhusi resident and the victim Yadav’s father, who is currently in jail.

After hearing gunshots, security personnel rushed outside the jail but the assailants managed to escape, police officials said.

4. Kolkata Woman’s Body Found in Drain, Police Suspect Foul Play

The body of Sunanda Ganguly, aged 60, was found lying in the drain near her residence in Bhowanipore area in south Kolkata.

Police said that the way in which the body was found was ‘unnatural’ and they are looking into the matter. The woman was living alone and was under pressure from the promoters to sell the house, they added

5. Mob Burns Down Liquor Store after Being Denied Alcohol, Two Charred to Death in MP

A liquor shop in Balaghat’s Temni village in Madhya Pradesh was set ablaze by a mob late on Sunday night when the manager refused to open the shop and give them alcohol.

Two salesmen, who were sleeping inside the shop, were charred to death while the manager managed to escape, said a Hindustan Times report.

The mob came from a marriage function near the shop, and wanted to buy liquor after they had run out. The shop manager refused to open shop because it was late, prompting the enraged mob to break into the shop, ransacking it and setting it on fire.

Police arrested two men for allegedly instigating the mob, and cases were lodged against 13 others.

6. Uncle, Cousins Kill 17-Year-Old Boy

Four people were arrested on Sunday as the Thane crime branch and Government Railway Police solved the murder of Aashiq Shaikh, 17, whose body was found in a gunny bag at Ambernath railway station in Mumbai on 1 June.

CCTV footage from railways stations showed four people carrying the same gunny bag. Among the accused are the boy’s uncle, his two minor sons, and one relative.

7. Siberian Husky Worth Around Rs 1 Lakh Abducted in New Delhi

A Siberian Husky was stolen on 4 June in New Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area, according to a Times of India report.

Two men dragged the pooch into an SUV and drove off towards the Ridge near Sultangarhi Dargah. Police suspect that some animal traders dealing in foreign breeds may be involved. The import of foreign dogs to India for breeding was banned in April.

The crime seemed to have been planned meticulously, as the thieves knew the exact time the dog would be taken for a stroll.

A full-grown adult Husky usually costs around Rs 1 lakh, while puppies can be bought for around Rs 50,000 each.

8. Founder Chancellor of Alliance University Arrested for Rape in Bengaluru

Police on arrested Madhukar B Angur (60), chancellor of Alliance University, Bengaluru on charges of rape on 4 June.

The charges were filed by the rape survivor’s mother, who said the chancellor raped her between 2011 and 2014.

Angur was arrested after being subjected to a medical test.

9. Chain Snatchers Who Stole Their Lawyer’s Scooter Nabbed

Police in Bengaluru arrested chain snatchers who allegedly used the scooter of their advocate to commit robberies, on 7 June.

They recovered 310 grams of gold ornaments, alongside solving several cases of looting and house break-ins, said a report.

The accused were habitual offenders who frequently employed the services of a lawyer to bail them whenever they landed in jail. it was this very lawyer’s scooter which they stole using duplicate keys to rob numerous women around the town.
