1. Man Rapes Daughter for 2 Years, Arrested

A man was arrested on Thursday for sexually abusing his teenage daughter for two years. Police said the girl's teacher informed her mother after which a case was registered at the Govindpuri police station.

The last sexual assault occurred on Tuesday when the mother was away for work. He raped the girl and threatened to kill both the mother and her if she told anyone about the rape, the girl said.

The girl said one night when her elder brother was out with his friends, the man gagged her and raped her repeatedly until she fainted. She claimed that she was tormented every day.

2. Murder Accused Escapes From Prison

A murder accused lodged in the Santrampur sub-jail in Mahisagar district escaped early on Thursday morning. An offence was registered after the accused Laxman Khant was not located for quite some time.

Khant was arrested in connection with a murder that happened last year. He was facing trial and lodged at the Santrampur sub-jail as an undertrial prisoner.

Police officials said that Khant brought out of his cell to use the toilet. However, he managed to give guards the slip and escaped.

Investigations revealed that the jail has high walls and even a barbed wire fence. But it was possible to jump out from a particular spot that was not covered by the fence, a police officer said.

3. Policemen Attacked During Raid in Punjab

A sub-inspector and a constable were injured as the family of an accused attacked a police team at Saranwsar village in Hanumangarh today.

Officials confirmed in the evening that SI Surinder Kumar with four constables raided a house in Saranwsar village to nab Kulwinder Singh, kingpin of a gang that had looted a liquor shop in Srikaranpur in August this year. Police had arrested four persons in this regard, but Kulwinder had been evading arrest.

As the police team raided the village and put Kulwinder in the vehicle, six members of his family allegedly attacked policemen with spade and lathis. A case has been registered against Kulwinder and his family members

4. Income Tax Officer, 2 Others Booked for Fraud

The district police have registered an FIR against two officials of the Income Tax Department, including a Deputy Commissioner, in a matter pertaining to tax refund fraud involving an amount of Rs 28 lakh.

Rakesh Arya, Rohtak, SSP, told The Tribune that as per the complaint, a data entry operator allegedly diverted the refund amount to his own account by fraudulently changing the PAN number mentioned in the tax challans of two companies.

The role of the Deputy Commissioner is being investigated for his suspected connivance. His password was used by the computer operator in committing the alleged fraud.

Acting on the complaint, a case has been registered against the said IT officials and further investigation is on. No arrests have been made yet.

5. Ex-MLA’s Son, Nephews Booked for Murder Bid

Police on Thursday booked the son and two nephews of former INLD MLA Dilbag Singh on charge of attempt to murder and kidnapping.

A case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Surya Pratap Singh of Sarojni Colony against Udey Sandhu, son of Dilbag Singh, Dilraj Sandhu and Randeep Sandhu, both Dilbag’s cousins, and several others, under Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act, 1959, and Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 379-B (snatching), 323, 324 (hurting), 365 (kidnapping) and 506 (threat to life) of the IPC.

The complainant alleged that the son of the former MLA and his accomplices attacked him when he along with his friend, Gitesh Chawala of Shastri colony, was sitting in a car on 22 November. He also claimed they were bundled in a car and taken to a petrol pump where they were beaten.

6. Girl Kidnapped, Gangraped in Rajasthan

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped by five to seven people in Rajasthan, who also filmed the incident, police said on Thursday.

The girl was found in a semi-conscious state on the roadside near her home late on Tuesday night. She narrated the incident her to her parents while undergoing treatment at a hospital, a police officer said.

The victim, belonging to Rajput community, was kidnapped on Sunday night after she went to search for her elder sister who, on becoming angry over some issue had rushed out of the home, SHO of Railway Colony Police Station Shivraj Gujjar said.

Even as the elder sister returned late in the night, the victim didn't come back, following which her mother lodged a missing complaint the next day, the SHO said.

7. Man Gets 10 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment for Raping Minor Daughter

A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by a local court for allegedly raping his daughter, even as the victim, her mother and other witnesses turned hostile during the trial. The 14-year-old victim had become pregnant and later delivered a child.

District Judge-I and Additional Sessions Judge KG Rathi on Wednesday pronounced the accused guilty, solely on the basis of a DNA test which confirmed his role in the crime.

The convict, a security guard residing at a slum in north city area, was sentenced to 10-year rigorous imprisonment by the court which also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him. During the case trial, the survivor, her complainant mother and all witnesses changed their statements.

8. Mumbai: Murder Convict Who Skipped Parole Held

Police apprehended a 37-year-old murder convict last week who had skipped parole while serving a life sentence and was absconding since July. The accused, a resident of Mira Road, is a gangster with affiliations to the Mumbai underworld, the police claim.

According to police, the accused, Sachin Gajanand Shethe, serving a life sentence in a murder case at Nashik Road jail, had been on the run since he skipped his parole in July. Shethe had changed his appearance by wearing a wig and growing a beard to avoid police.

9. Criminal Arrested in Ghaziabad

A notorious criminal was arrested here on Thursday after a gun battle with police which damaged the car of a senior police officer.

Unus alias Kale was caught after a 15-minute "encounter" at Karhera leading to Raj Nagar Extension.

A police team led by Superintendent Salman Taj Patil flagged Kale to stop when he was in a car with an accomplice.

But Kale opened fire at the police while trying to escape. He was nabbed some 15 minutes later.

Taj Patil told IANS that Kale was "a wanted criminal and was a terror" in the area. He was wanted for multiple murders and carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.
