1. Parliament session comes to an end today

The government had said that the Lok Sabha, which was to adjourn on May 8 after the second half of budget session, will continue till May 13; it had convened on April 20 for the second half. The Rajya Sabha, which convened on April 23, will see the last day of its session today.

2. Defence Acquisition Council meeting today

The government is likely to pave the way for six new BrahMos supersonic cruise missile systems for the Indian Navy worth about Rs 2,700 crore –besides taking a call on the Army’s proposal for acquiring BAE’s M777 Ultra-Light Howitzers – in the Defence Acquisition Council meeting today.

3. Delhi government’s ACB to question RIL CEO

The CEO of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) will be questioned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Delhi government today in the Krishna-Godavari Basin case, which was termed as the “gas pricing scam” by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. According to sources, PMS Prasad had on Wednesday told the ACB that he would join the investigation today.

4. Separate Haryana Gurdwara Committee: SC Will Resume Hearing Today

Supreme Court of India (SCI) will hear the petition regarding formation of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) today. The petition was lodged by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member from Kurukshetar, Harbhajan Singh, challenging the formation of the separate panel for managing affairs of Haryana’s historical Sikh shrines by the then Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

5. Ajay Devgan will release first look of Shivaay

Ajay Devgan took to Twitter yesterday and released a video message for all his fans. The super star has finished shooting Drishyam and will be releasing the first look of Shivaay today, which is his home production’s most ambitious project.

6. Cannes Film Festival begins

The Cannes Film Festival will open today with the work of a woman director, Emmanuelle Bercot’s La Tete Haute (Standing Tall/Heads Up). La Tete Haute talks about a juvenile delinquent, Malony, and the efforts of a social worker to try and reform the boy as he travels into adulthood.

7. Pakistan court seeks reply from police on security threat to Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi. Hearing resumes today

A Pakistani anti-terrorism court had yesterday sought a reply from the Islamabad police chief about alleged security threats to 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi. “The Anti-Terrorism Court, Islamabad judge who held the proceedings at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi directed the Inspector General Police, Islamabad to submit a reply in the court on the next hearing (May 13) about the security threat, if any, Lakhvi is facing,” a court official said.

8. Graft case against Zardari will resume hearing today

Hearing resumes in the anti-corruption court in corruption case against Pakistan’s former president Asif Ali Zardari.
