A group of unidentified miscreants on Friday, 1 February, vandalised posters of Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Patna, Bihar that depicted him as Lord Rama, ANI reported.
The incident took place hours after the general secretary of Bhartiya Jan Kranti Dal, Rakesh Dutt Mishra filed a complaint against Gandhi and four others in a Patna court for hurting religious sentiments.
The posters were put up by Congress worker Vijay Kumar Singh ahead of Gandhi’s Jan Aakansha’ rally that will be held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on 3 February.
Along with Gandhi, the posters also featured faces of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and general secretary of the AICC - eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi.
The posters also received flak from the ruling Janata Dal (United) and Bhartiya Janata Party, calling it ‘a cheap political stunt.’
