- Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh announced on 8 November that Azad, a three-time national executive member of the BJP, would now be joining the Aam Admi Party.
- According to reports, her decision to shift parties is influenced by her growing marginalisation in the BJP over the last few years as well her husband's suspension after he launched a bitter attack on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over alleged corruption in the DDCA during his tenure as its head.
