Prime Minister Modi is currently meeting with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval about the situation.

I cannot comment on the situation because it is developing as we speak. Operation is going on and the situation is under control. Have spoken to NSA and Home Secretary. I have instructed BSF chief to alert the forces on the border.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal summoned an emergency meeting in view of the incident. Badal has said that militancy was a national problem, not just that of Punjab’s.
