The Times Now prime time debate dealt with the issue of culpability of Punjab Police Superintendent Salwinder Singh in aiding the terrorist attack on the Pathankot air base on 2 January.

The attack on the airbase claimed the lives of seven security force personnel.

Arnab Goswami charged the state of Punjab and Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal’s government with defending SP Singh because of his alleged connection with the Alkali Dal.

SP Singh claimed to have been kidnapped by four-five terrorists while he was on his way back from a visit to a holy shrine.

His vehicle was intercepted by the terrorists who were hiding in a sugarcane field by the side of the road. Singh’s jeweller friend Verma and Verma’s cook were also present in the XUV.

During the debate, Goswami questioned the two-hour gap reported in the time between Singh’s vehicle leaving the shrine and reaching the place where it was captured.

Indo-Pak Diplomatic Ties

The News@9 discussion on CNN IBN, on the other hand, chaired a discussion about whether India should continue a dialogue with Pakistan after the Pathankot attack.

Former diplomat KC Singh made a strong point, saying that what the Prime Minister is doing is right, but he should have done it much earlier. Peace talks after the BJP lost in Bihar. In the eyes of Pakistani Punjabis, Narendra Modi looks like he is ‘begging’ for peace.

He also added that the accelerating pace of peace talks will result in angering Jihadis, a risk the Prime Minister should have seen coming.
