A 15-year-old’s skeleton, allegedly in relation to the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case, was found by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday, 4 October at a cremation ground in Sikandarpur area, reported ANI.

In an attempt to widen its investigation into the case, the CBI had begun an excavation at the site a day earlier.

The case had revealed the sexual assault of over 40 girls in the shelter home. In an earlier report, the CBI had revealed that the victims’ screams were audible to the neighbours, but nobody had spoken out of fear.

The incident came to light through a social audit that was conducted by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). The report had revealed that eight of the 42 inmates were being sexually abused and were transferred.
