6-Year-Old Raped in Delhi School by Housekeeping Staff
The incident comes almost a month after a class 2 student was found dead in Gurugram’s Ryan International School.
A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped in south Delhi’s Nirankari Public School by a 23-year-old employee on Wednesday.
The incident took place when the victim, a class 1 student, had gone to the washroom in the middle of her classes. The accused Rakesh, a housekeeping staff hired 15 days ago, has been arrested, reported The Indian Express.
The incident came to light after the scared girl went home and told her parents about it. The mother then rushed to the school and informed her teachers about the assault. Her father further said that it was utter carelessness on the part of the school administration to let a male enter female toilets.
I got a call from my wife after which I rushed to the school. From there a call was made to police and the accused was handed over to them. The police then took us to AIIMS where doctors confirmed she was raped.Victim’s father to The Indian Express
There were rashes in her private parts and she also complained of pain, said a police officer.
A case has been registered under sections of the IPC pertaining to rape and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Malviya Nagar Police Station.
School headmistress Sushma Manchnada told The Indian Express that every washroom is manned by a female attendant.
It was unfortunate that when the girl entered the washroom, the female attendant was not available as she had gone to drink water. In the meantime, the man went inside.Sushma Manchanda, Headmistress of the School
