The shooters reportedly came in a red Grand i10 car.

A teacher in an MCD-run school in Delhi's Swaroop Nagar was shot dead by unidentified attackers on Monday afternoon, right outside the school campus

The victim, identified as Deepak, reportedly stepped out of the campus to attend a call when he was shot at five times by the two assailants who came in a Hyundai Grand i10 car, The Indian Express reported.

Deepak's body has reportedly been shifted to a mortuary and the police have started checking CCTV footages in order to identify the attackers. Deepak lived with his parents in Tajpur village in southwest Delhi. He was a guest teacher in the school and had been there since July.

Investigation teams have said they suspect personal enmity could be the motive behind the shooting. Police have also questioned relatives to make sure if he got into a fight recently. Northwest Delhi DCP Milind Dumbere told Indian Express, “Police were informed about the incident after a PCR call was received at 4:35 pm, following which a team from Swaroop Nagar police station was dispatched to the site.”

Deepak's body was lying in a pool of blood outside the MCD school campus in Swaroop Nagar.

One of the police officials from the investigations team said that he (Deepak) ran towards his WagonR car to shield himself from the bullets.

Local shop owners and traders present at the spot hid inside their shops upon hearing the firing. The school principal told Indian Express that Deepak entered school at 9 am and went out around 4:20 pm to make a phone call.

He had left through the main gate and was talking to someone on the phone, when school staff heard firecracker-like sounds. When we went outside, Deepak was lying in a pool of blood.

As the locals present on the spot ran for cover, police have not been able to find an eyewitness yet. Some people told the police that they saw a red car zipping past the body. “The crime team found several empty cases and live rounds at the spot. CCTV footage also captured a vehicle, which is currently being tracked,” Dumbere told Indian Express.
