Right ahead of the Delhi civic polls, fresh trouble seems to be brewing for the Congress after District President of Mahila Congress Rachna Sachdeva filed a complaint of mental harassment and criminal intimidation against Congress chief Ajay Maken, Mahila Congress President Shobha Oza and leader Netta D’Souza.
Sachdeva alleged that she was harassed after she met with Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on the issue of ticket distribution for the MCD polls. She alleged that tickets have been allotted to the Congress leaders’ relatives.
Speaking to CNN-News18, Oza refuted her claims saying that Sachdeva is a “soft target” and is being “used by the BJP to malign Congress leaders”.
I don’t understand why she has named me. I listen to everyone’s grievances and members of Mahila Congress from different blocks and districts are contesting for the MCD polls. Her allegations are false.Shobha Oza
Oza went on to explain that there is a process for handing out tickets.
“If a member can’t assure winnability, then how can we give them a ticket? Mahila Congress bearers who were out on the ground and worked hard have been given tickets,” she said.
Sachdeva alleged that she was locked in a room by Oza and D’Souza and threatened for approaching Gandhi. She even said that Maken asked her in a threatening manner if she is a BJP member.
“Who has the time to threaten or intimidate anyone? If you were a true Congress member then you would not choose this forum. Don’t make such false allegations. I feel sorry for you,” Oza responded.
