Kerala Civil Supplies Recalls Maggi, Stops Further Distribution

After failing the sample test in Delhi, Maggi now runs into trouble in Kerala.

The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited, also known as Supplyco has stopped distribution of Nestle product Maggi noodles following Uttar Pradesh FDA finding high lead content and Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in the noodles.

This will come as a huge blow to Nestle in Kerala as Supplyco runs 1,471 outlets in the state including 933 Maveli stores and 375 hypermarkets and Maggi was being supplied to all these stores.

Supplyco PRO Kala told The News Minute that the move as a precautionary measure following the reports from Uttar Pradesh.

“Last week, we had decided not to purchase Maggi noodles in June 2015, we had also instructed our outlets to stop selling Maggi. Today, instructions were issued to take them off display.” Kala
