Following the rains that triggered landslides in Jammu, the 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway will remain closed for the fourth consecutive day.
Sanjay Kotwal, SSP Traffic of National Highways said that authorities have not allowed any fresh movement of traffic from Jammu to Srinagar or from the other side.
This leaves over 600 Kashmir-bound passengers stranded at the Jammu bus stand. The passengers who’ve been at the stand for three days are now demanding that they be airlifted to Kashmir.
The highway was closed on April 1 due to landslides triggered by heavy rains at several places.
According to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the highway will reopen this evening. The BRO is working to clear the highway.
About 700-800 trucks are stranded at various places in Jammu, Udhampur, Banihal, Ramban, Batote and Patnitop. All the stranded passenger vehicles have been cleared from the highway.

Meanwhile, the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar inter-district road also remained closed for the fourth day in view of landslides at different places. Efforts are being made to restore the road for traffic to pass.
