Two militants were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces at the Brath Kalan area of Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla on Wednesday, 12 December.
Forces have concluded the search operation that began after the encounter ended, news agency ANI reported.
“In the encounter, two terrorists were neutralised and their bodies were retrieved from the site of the encounter. Incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the site of encounter. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.”J&K Police, as quoted by ANI
The neutralised terrorists have been identified as Ovis Butt and Tahir Ahmad of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the Brath Kalan area on Wednesday evening following information about the presence of militants in the area.
The militants opened fire at the security forces, leading to an encounter, PTI reported, citing a police official.
According to reports, mobile internet services had also been suspended in the area.
