Foreign Affairs Advisor to Pakistan Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz said that Indian NSA Ajit Doval and his Pakistani counterpart Nasir Janjua made contact on Monday after recent tensions.

Aziz said that Janjua and Doval agreed to defuse tensions on the LoC and between the two nuclear-armed nations, according to The News International.

Aziz claimed that India is escalating tension on the LoC to divert the attention of the world away from the Kashmir issue. He said that Pakistan wants tensions to simmer down between the states so that the issue of Kashmir can be focused on and dealt with.

Aziz said that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has commented on the tense situation between the states saying that till the issue of Kashmir isn’t resolved, peace along the border will not prevail.

However, the situation only seems to be worsening as six militants attacked an Indian Army camp in Baramulla on Sunday night.
