- Sreepati Ramudu, a Dalit professor in Hyderabad Central University (HCU), resigned on Thursday as a protest against the appointment of professor Vipin Srivastava as the university’s Pro Vice-Chancellor.
- Srivastava was the chairman of the committee that had recommended punishment for five Dalit research scholars, including Dalit scholar Rohit Vemula.
- In his resignation letter, Ramudu wrote about the hostile environment in HCU that was intimidating for the Dalit students. Professor Srivastava, on the other hand, has alleged that Ramudu had not been cooperating in administrative matters or attending any work.
