#GoodNews: Tribal Students From Chhattisgarh Chosen for IIT-Delhi

A matter of pride for the tribal community of Chhattisgarh, two students of Jashpur district have been selected to study at IIT- Delhi, reported ANI.

Deepak Kumar from Kudekela village and Nitesh Painkra from Jargum credit their success to the district administration. According to IBT, the two boys who come from poor financial backgrounds crossed many hurdles to top the selection process and secured seats in IIT-Delhi’s textile department.

Jashpur district collector Priyanka Shukla told ANI that the two boys have set an example for the future generations. She also thanked District Mineral Foundation (DMF), because of which the administration can support meritorious students like Kumar and Paintra.

Twenty one students from Jashpur have been selected to NIT and other IITs out of which Kumar and Painkra have made it to IIT-Delhi.

District Mineral Foundations (DMFs) are statutory bodies in India established by the state governments by notification. The objective of District Mineral Foundation is to work for the interest of the benefit of the persons and areas affected by mining related operations. It is funded through the contributions from miners.

Its manner of operation comes under the jurisdiction of the relevant state governments.

The achievement of the two students have drawn praise from all over the country with people taking to social media to express their pride.
