A couple was found dead under mysterious circumstances at their apartment in Gyan Khand area of Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, on Friday, 2 March. Neeraj Singhania, 37, and his wife, Ruchi, 35, returned to their room after playing Holi but were found dead by the family a few hours later.

The postmortem report has put the cause of death as “uncertain.” The police is investigating the matter to ascertain the exact cause of death, reported The Times of India.

Their viscera have been preserved for now and will be sent for forensic tests in Agra.

Neeraj was working as a deputy general manager with Matrix Cellular Service Limited and his wife was working for a US-based IT company in Noida.

The family had gathered to celebrate Neeraj’s father’s birthday and Ruchi’s parents’ anniversary along with Holi on 2 March, reported TOI.

The family members were present inside the house when the incident took place, the report added.

The couple’s room was locked from inside. The family raised an alarm when their repeated calls went without any response. One of the family members peeped through the door and saw their bodies lying on the floor.

An ambulance was called and they were rushed to a private hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.

“Their bodies, however, did not have any injury marks,” Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Circle Officer, Indirapuram, told TOI.

A case has been filed and the police is investigating the matter. As of now, the police is not certain whether it is suicide or murder, as no circumstantial evidence supporting any of the cause was found on the scene.

The couple got married in 2010 and have a 4-year-old daughter.
