Incessant rains in Gujarat over the last couple of days have resulted in the deaths of 26 people.
The state government has announced Rs 300 crore for flood affected families and victims.
The rain and high winds have also cut power and communications across north Gujarat, raising concerns that villagers may be stranded.
“Over 2,000 villages of north Gujarat have been affected due to the floods,” the duty officer in the state’s emergency control room.
A team of Army from Dhranghdhra base in Surendranagar district in Gujarat and four teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Pune were sent to Banaskantha district today, which is worst affected.
