Three soldiers and a militant were killed on Monday as the Indian troops foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector of Kashmir.

An Army patrol noticed suspicious movement close to the LoC in Tandghar and challenged the group of militants, an army official said.

He said a heavy exchange of fire ensued between the two sides and the infiltrators were forced to retreat across the LoC.

While one militant was killed in the gunfight, four soldiers sustained injuries in the operation, which was in progress till last reports came in, the official said.

He said three jawans succumbed to injuries while the condition of the fourth jawan was stated to be stable.
