3 Chinese Journos Leave India After Being Denied Visa Extensions

Three Delhi-based Chinese journalists working for Xinhua were not given an extension on their visas.

  • Three journalists of China’s state-run news agency Xinhua, who were denied extension of visa, have departed India, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

  • V K Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs said that the Xinhua Bureau Chief in New Delhi whose visa had expired on 31 December, the correspondents’ whose visas expired in March, 2016 were given short term extensions to facilitate smooth transition.

  • In July, the MEA had said the journalists were denied visa extension as there were issues relating to their “conduct not being in conformity” with the provisions of the visa rules.
