Four Militants, One Soldier Killed in Two Encounters in Kashmir

A second encounter is underway between security forces and militants at Tral.

Two militants were killed and one soldier lost his life in an ongoing encounter in Redwani area of Kulgam district in Kashmir on Tuesday, 27 November.

According to reports, another encounter between security forces and militants is underway in Hafoo area of Tral in Pulwama.

The Kulgam encounter took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The gunfight broke out after militants fired at a team comprising the Army, state police and CRPF, that was conducting a cordon and search operation in the south Kashmir district, 70 km from Srinagar, reported NDTV.

Security forces have managed to restrain the militants' to a narrow area.

Second Encounter

A second encounter is also underway between security forces and militants in South Kashmir’s Pulwama.

According to ANI, one Rashtriya Rifles soldier has been killed in the encounter, while two terrorists have been gunned down. Additionally, two other CRPF jawans have been injured.

According to reports, a joint team of army, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Hafoo following inputs about the presence of militants.

Two to three militants were believed to be holed up inside a residential house at the site, India Today reported.

‘Deadliest Year in Kashmir’

On Sunday, eight people, including one teenage civilian, were killed and four others were injured in an encounter between security forces and militants in Shopian.

With 400 killings this year so far, 2018 is reportedly the deadliest year in Kashmir since 2008, when 505 people were killed.
