Two youths have been arrested on Wednesday in Khargone in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly morphing and circulating a photo of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on social media.

The youths identified as 22-year-old Shaqir and 20-year-old Wasim were arrested on 16 March for uploading the morphed picture of Bhagwat in a local social networking group of Bhikangaon town.

As the photo went viral on social media, RSS and BJP workers registered a protest on the issue. Following that a case was registered against the duo in Bhikangaon police station under Sections 67 of the IT Act and 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.

The accused claimed that they had received the photo from some other group and they just forwarded it.

Both Shaqir and Wasim were arrested and sent to jail by Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Sadashiv Dagode. The duo has been sent to judicial custody till 30 March.
