Thousands of fans flocked to the Mumbai residence of deceased star Sridevi, to pay their respects, and catch one last glimpse of her.

As news of Sridevi’s death broke, fans thronged her Lokhandwala residence, missing sleep, to be in the presence of the deceased star and mourn her passing.

Apart from fans, the film fraternity has united in paying their respects to the star, from Salman Khan, to Shah Rukh Khan, and Rajinikanth, who visited Sridevi’s family and offered support in their time of need.

Heavy police deployment was in place to ensure that no untoward incidents happened, and to ensure the family had peace in their time of mourning.

Sridevi’s body was flown to Mumbai on a private chartered jet owned by Anil Ambani, around 10:30 pm, and was accompanied by her husband Boney Kapoor, brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor, and her stepson Arjun Kapoor. Sonam Kapoor, Anil Ambani, and his wife Tina Ambani were among the people waiting to receive Sridevi’s body at the airport when the plane landed.

Sridevi left her mark on the face of Indian cinema, being active for more than five decades. She passed away after an "accidental drowning" on 24 February, in Dubai. While initial reports suggested that the cause of her death was a cardiac arrest, forensic reports from the Dubai authorities later stated that Sridevi drowned in her hotel room’s bathtub after she lost consciousness.

(The Quint, in association with BitGiving, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for an 8-month-old who was raped in Delhi on 28 January 2018. The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
