Senior RSS leader Brig (retd) Jagdish Gagneja, who was shot at by unidentified assailants in August, died at a hospital in Ludhiana on Thursday.
Besides the deceased’s family members, many senior RSS and BJP leaders, including Phul Chand Jain, Anil Sareen, Commissioner of Police Jatinder Singh Aulakh, and Dr Rishi Pal, ADC of Ludhiana district, were present at the hospital to pay their last respects.
‘Nefarious Designs’
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amarinder Singh had condemned the attack on the RSS leader.
“Such nefarious designs deserve to be nipped in the bud lest these push Punjab into anarchy,” he said.
People may not agree or approve of RSS ideology, but in a democracy everyone has a right to pursue his political and ideological beliefs, Amarinder said.
“Such intimidation is unacceptable,” he said.
After police failed to get clues in the murder of the Vice President of the Punjab unit of the Sangh, the case was handed over to the CBI recently.
