A Delhi court has framed rape charge against Mahmood Farooqui, co-director of the movie Peepli Live for alleged sexual assault against an American researcher.
The court has claimed to have found enough evidence against Farooqui to start the trial.
An FIR with regard to the alleged incident was lodged in June. A case under IPC’s Section 376 was registered against the writer-director and he was sent to a 6-day judicial custody.
The complainant had alleged that Farooqi had raped her in a rented accomodation in Sukhdev Vihar.
The trial is to be conducted on a day-to day-basis on the complainant’s request to the Court as her visa expires on October 5 this year, according to a report on Daily News & Analysis.
The incident happened in March and the woman filed a complaint a month and a half ago at the New Friends Colony Police Station in New Delhi.
