On the second day of the Parliament’s monsoon sessions, the Government rejected the opposition’s demand for a probe into charges against Union minister Sushma Swaraj and and two BJP chief ministers.
Mounting an attack on the opposition, it said that no minister had broken any laws.
[Opposition is] weak on arguments and strong on disturbance.
— Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister, India
Accusing the Congress of being uninterested in a debated over the issue, Finance Minister said that the party would like External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to give a statement with elaborate reasoning.
The three ministers are facing the heat for the Vyapam Scam, and the controversy about helping IPL ex-commissioner, Lalit Modi.
Investigation is held when some provision of law is violated. Nobody has been able to point out, despite our repeated requests as to which provision of law, as they allege, has been violated.
— Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister, India
Stressing on the need to discuss issues of public welfare in the Parliament, Arun Jaitley, repeated the government’s wish for a debate over the issue.
