- Liquor baron Vijay Mallya on 25 May sought dismissal of the Enforcement Department’s (ED) plea to withdraw an exemption granted to him from personal appearance by a Delhi court, in a case lodged for allegedly evading summons in connection with FERA violation case.
- The court, which had in December 2000, allowed Mallya’s plea seeking permanent exemption from personal appearance, has fixed the matter for further hearing on Mallya’s reply to the ED’s plea.
- A report filed by Mallya said that the application filed by the ED is misplaced since he has not misused any of the liberty granted to him by the court and that an authorised counsel has been appearing before the court on each date of the hearing.
