Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Gwalior, Rekha Saxena (56), and her brother, Surender Saxena, were allegedly robbed on Thursday in Samata Express train, on their way to Delhi to receive the President’s Medal on Teachers’ Day, DCP (Railways) Dumbere Milind Mahadeo said.

The robber sprayed a chemical on Saxena and her brother, which put them on a semi-conscious state. They were rushed to a hospital once the train arrived in Delhi.

Union HRD minister Smriti Irani visited them in the hospital.

In her complaint, Saxena told the police that a tea vendor on Mathura railway station had sprayed the chemical on the principal’s face.

When her brother tried to resist, the vendor threw tea on him and fled the scene. Both of them turned drowsy and half an hour after the incident, they realised that Saxena’s wallet, her brother’s watch and Rs 50,000 cash were missing.

We have reported the matter to the GRP at Mathura and transferred the Zero FIR to the police station concerned. Police are now looking for the vendor who allegedly committed the robbery.

According to a police official, the other passengers in the train were too confused to react.

The principal and her brother reported the incident at the GRP post in Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station around 6.30 PM and later a Zero FIR was registered by the police.
