Kanhaiya Kumar, President of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) has finally walked out of Tihar jail after 20 days. According to reports, security was significantly beefed up and he was taken out of the jail premises away from the media glare.
He was arrested on February 12 after anti-national slogans were allegedly raised at JNU during an event. The Delhi High court had granted him interim bail for six months, on Wednesday, subject to the outcome of the investigation.

After his arrest on 12 February, Kanhaiya was charged with sedition. Subsequently, two other students Umar Khaled and Anirban Bhattacharya were also arrested and charges of sedition were slapped on them. Khaled and Bhattacharya are currently in judicial custody.
