The POSCO court in Badaun rejected the closure report that the CBI had submitted as evidence that the two sisters were neither raped nor murdered but committed suicide in May last year. Their bodies were found hanging from a tree on May 27.
Times Now reports that the court summoned prime suspect Pappu Yadav after rejecting the closure report.
The agency submitted its report to the court on December 11 which said that the girls gave up their life because they were “ashamed that the relationship of the elder sister with Pappu Yadav, one of the men earlier accused in the case, had been exposed”.
However, the girls’ families begged to differ. They allege that the girls were kidnapped by five youths who later murdered them.
All the charges against the accused were dropped by CBI. Apart from Pappu, the other accused are Awadhesh and Urvesh Yadav (brothers) and police constables Chhatrapal Yadav and Sarvesh Yadav.
