- In another case of lawlessness, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Ashok Jaiswal was shot dead in broad daylight on Wednesday by unknown assailants in Danapur, Bihar on Wednesday.
- The Bihar wing of the BJP, upset at the ghastly attack on one of its own, has called for a shutdown in Danapur, a satellite town of Patna on Thursday.
- Jaiswal is the second BJP leader from Bihar to have been shot dead in the past couple of months. Earlier in February, Bihar Vice-President for Bharatiya Janata Party, Visheshwar Ojha, was shot dead in Arrah city of Bhojpur district in Bihar.
