Good news for people who keep moving from city to city, you can now keep your existing number and not pay roaming charges.
If announcements by major mobile operators are to be believed, starting Friday, you will be able to port your mobile numbers within telecom circles of the same mobile opera, thanks to national Mobile Number Portability (MNP).
The service will essentially register your number in the local telecom circle of the place that you are in, which was not possible until now.
The news about national mobile number portability has been doing the rounds for a while but this time, the announcement looks promising.
Airtel, in its statement, said that the new service will allow moving within the national circles within 24 hours.
Customers will be the biggest gainers of the National MNP service as it allows them to carry their existing number across India and also choose the operator of their choice.

Idea Cellular, a self-acclaimed leader in providing MNP service, is all set to introduce the nation-wide version of the service.
Idea has been the MNP leader with over 14 million net gain of customers so far, through intra circle MNP services. The company is now ready to enable national MNP.
