Domestic Flights to Get More Expensive As Govt Introduces New Levy

The government on Friday, announced a levy to fund its regional connectivity scheme, said the Civil Aviation Secretary, following which the airfares are expected to go up.

The government will impose a levy of up to Rs 8,500 on flights in major routes and routes more than 1,500 km to fund the scheme.

The levy will be Rs 7,500 for flights of up to 1,000 km and Rs 8,000 for flights between 1,000-1,500 km.
