Bhupesh Bhandari, a senior associate editor with Business Standard, passed away due to heart failure on 13 August. He was 49 years old.

He worked with Business Standard for over 17 years, and was the head of the Weekend Section at the time of his death. He was also the editor for the publication's Hindi edition.

Before joining Business Standard, Bhandari worked for BusinessWorld magazine, and joined the organisation with a well-founded standing in corporate reportage.

According to Business Standard, Bhandari possessed extensive knowledge of the pharma and telecom industries. An obit in the paper reads as follows:

His knowledge of the intricacies of telecom policy and the pharmaceutical industry was unsurpassed, making him a critical contributor to the paper’s editorials on these subjects.
