Union Minister Smriti Irani posted images of taking a holy dip at the Ardh Kumbh Mela 2019 in the early hours of Tuesday, 15 January, in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.
Thousands of devotees thronged the Sangam – the confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati – on Tuesday to take a holy dip as part of the 49-day-long mela.
The Khubh Mela being held in Prayagraj comprises traditional akharas, five-star tents, high-tech lost-and-found centres, etc.
It is estimated that the mela, which is being held after six years, will see a footfall of around 140 million pilgrims and tourists, and host representatives from 192 countries.
