Comedian Sarah Silverman recently showed her fans her compassionate side by responding to a troll on Twitter with kindness. A few days after Christmas, a Twitter user responded to one of Silverman’s tweets in an impolite manner, to say the least.
Silverman then took the time to go through his profile and reached out to him for help.
The man revealed that he had been sexually assaulted as a young child, which is why he could never choose “love”.
Silverman then sympathised with the man’s pain and tried getting him in touch with a support group.
The man then apologised to her for the nasty comment and told her his problems. She asked him not to give himself a hard time and suggested he reach out to a support group.
She also helped him start a crowdfunding campaign to pay for treatment for his back pain.
The man has now taken to tweeting about compassion and positivity, instead of being hateful to people on the internet.
This just shows how a little bit of compassion can go a long way.
