The Indian hockey team gave the perfect Diwali gift to the entire nation by winning the Asian Champions Trophy for the second time at Kuantan in Malaysia on Sunday.
The men in blue beat arch-rivals Pakistan 3-2 in the final. Rupinder Pal Singh, Yousuf Affan and Nikkin Thimmaiah found the back of the net for India. And for Pakistan, Muhammad Aleem Bilal and Ali Shan were the scorers.
India were leading Pakistan by 2-1 at half-time, but Ali Shan found the equaliser in the 38th minute.
As the match seemed to be heading into a penalty shootout, Nikkin Thimmaiah scored the winner for India in the 51st minute.
Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and other famous personalities congratulated the Indian hockey team on Twitter.
