Ever since diamantaire Nirav Modi left the country – after allegedly scamming Punjab National Bank of off over Rs 12,000 crore (and counting) – every drawing room in India has been filled with loud discussions on how to bring back the fugitive billionaire.
But one man, an anonymous “common deshwasi”, has taken a different approach. He has written an open letter to Modi, assuring him that we, the lesser mortals, will repay his loan, like we have been repaying Vijay Mallya’s loans.
“Don’t worry at all about the Rs 11,000 crore of debt you owe to Punjab National Bank. This amount will be collected from us by our banks.”
The letter, (which has gone viral on Reddit), goes into how the banks will collect Rs 11,400 crore in small amounts from every citizen under the guise of bank charges, such as ATM fee, annual maintenance charges, etc.
This anonymous deshwasi even lashed out at the government for collecting the loan money from us in the form of various taxes. The deshwasi reassured Modi, saying we Indians have become used to all of this.
