A rapper from Gangtok called UNB recently wrote a song against racism.

We judge, we mock, we imitate, we abuse, we discriminate regularly. Especially against our own countrymen and women who belong to the land of the ‘seven sisters’. Rapes and beatings – even murder has been committed.

It’s time to #freeyourmind.

Another rapper, Borkung Hrangkhawl voiced his anger after the death of Nido Taniam, a 19-year-old boy from Arunachal Pradesh, who was beaten up by local shopkeepers in Delhi early last year. His lyrics run like this:

Then why are you so eager to hurt our sentiments..

The predicaments in this game of death, you are the participants..

So don’t constrain yourself to the limitation of what your actions have caused..

We are Indians as much as you are.

For those of you who feel you don’t know much about the North-east, here are 10 super-cool things to know.

#Freeyourmind from racism and stereotype. Of every kind.
