Records are made and broken by humans, but the effort involved is nothing less than superhuman. This is exactly what Tata Global Beverages proved on Saturday when they created a Guinness World Record of the largest gathering of people in capes performing Zumba. The enthusiastic crowd was cheered on and joined by Sourav Ganguly, Neha Dhupia and Shibani Dandekar. This record-breaking feat marked the launch of two variants of Tetley Super Green Tea that celebrates ‘everyday superhumans’.

Tata Global Beverages has pioneered the green tea wave in India and with their latest offerings, they aim to take this to the next level.

Tetley Super Green Tea is the first of its kind in India and has been developed keeping in mind the consumer’s evolved tastes and lifestyles. It is enhanced with Vitamins and is available in two variants – Boost and Immune. So the next time you need superhuman strength, you know what beverage to reach out to. It is only fitting then that this product was launched amid much fanfare at NSCI in Mumbai with thousands of participants.

Leading this superhuman effort was Zumba education specialist Shwetambari Shetty. Ganguly, who is the new face of Tetley in India, was welcomed with cheers of dada as he came on stage. He said “Tetley Super Green, as the brand name suggests, truly believes that ordinary people are capable of doing super things.

Before setting the record, Shetty warmed the crowd up to Zumba for nearly one and a half hours. From the young to the old, everyone enthusiastically followed Shetty’s steps. Once people had become familiar to Zumba, capes were distributed and rules were announced by a Guinness representative. Ganguly, Dhupia and Dandekar were then called on stage along with Sushant Dash, Regional President India, Tata Global Beverages.

The stage was set for the record-making moment. For nearly 10 minutes, the crowd danced to Zumba, careful not to let go of their capes. This was followed by a few nervous seconds of anticipation before it was announced that a record had indeed been created. Speaking about the launch of Tetley Super Green Tea and the record, Dash said, “In today’s world, people are constantly faced with superhuman expectations and could use a boost to live up to it all. This new offering celebrates the spirit of everyday superhumans and today’s Guinness World Records achievement is only the beginning of this product’s journey in India.”

After the big moment, Ganguly joked that he had never worn a cape before and that this event made him dance after nearly 10 years.
