Pakistan on Monday summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner and condemned the alleged firing by Indian troops along the LoC, in which three Pakistani civilians were killed.
Director General (South Asia and Saarc) Mohammad Faisal summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh and “condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations” by the Indian forces, the Pakistan foreign office said.
Three civilians were allegedly killed in the firing in Chirikot and Hot Spring sectors on 10 June and 12 June.
"The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed condemnable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws," the foreign office said.
The director general urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement, investigate all the incidents of ceasefire violations and instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit, and maintain peace on the LoC.
Ceasefire Violations Continue
Pakistan violated ceasefire early on Monday morning along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Krishna Ghati and Nowshera sectors.
Pakistan Army started indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars and Indian Army has been retaliating in Krishna Ghati. This is the 9th ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army since 1 June and 6th in the last 72 hours, defence spokesperson, Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
“Pakistan is using heavy mortars, RCL guns, RPGs and heavy automatics. Indian Army is giving a befitting reply in equal measure to them,” he said.
In Nowshera, Heavy and small arms were used by the Pakistan Army. “As a measure of precaution, roads in area have been closed,” said NA Chowhan, SDPO, Nowshera.
Two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Terrorists Arrested
Meanwhile, two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists have been arrested by a joint team of Police and Army in north Kashmir's Handwara.
A police spokesman said here that police and Rashtriya Rifles caught Mehrajudin and Obaid Shafi, both residents of Awantipora in Pulwama district, at Chogal while moving in suspicious circumstances.
The two were asked to stop but they tried to escape, the spokesman said. When they were caught, arms and ammunition were recovered from them. "They said they came to Handwara to get ammunition."
"Preliminary investigations reveal these militants were members of a militant module who would recruit youths for militancy by radicalizing them over social media and coordinate their training and supply of arms and ammunition," the spokesman said.
