Nayapalli police has, however, denied the allegations saying that when they went to the spot of a family dispute, a few days ago, they were attacked by the girls. The police said that following this incident, they arrested the girls and sent them to jail.

The girls were out on anticipatory bail when they decided to share their ordeal with the world.

According to Kallinga TV, DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma said that the matter will be probed and due action will be taken.

The Odisha police subsequently tweeted that incident has been forwarded to DCP Bhubhaneswar, so that necessary action can be taken.

Odisha police faced a lot of anger on social media for the violence they reportedly inflicted on the girls.
