I love white. My love for white comes from my father, who has a bias for the monochrome. On my 15th birthday, he bought me flared white pants and a white top (which would have been a very chic look, looking back). But the teenage rebel in me immediately got the top changed – I didn’t want to look like Jeetendra! I must admit that the sartorial choices I made as a teenager were not something to write home about.
But as I grew up, I began to appreciate my father’s love affair with white. The colour gently exudes confidence and elegance, and holds its own, even amidst a riot of colours. But the world is divided into people who like white, and people who don’t.
Day 3 at the Amazon India Fashion Week was a treat for the former.
Beach, Please
When surrounded by white sands and blue waters, what better thing to wear than a white dress? Designer Payal Jain showed off asymmetric ponchos, sheer dresses and long maxis as an ode to the free-spirited Mediterranean vibe.
White is the New White
Bring on the all white, we say! Designer Nikhita Tandon introduced structured whites on the ramp, and gave our favourite colour many wraps and twists.
Spunky Whites
The Misfits, designer Shweta Kapur’s collection at the fashion week showcased some edgy designs. White has spunk too, in case you thought otherwise!
