Women at a Madhya Pradesh health centre were made to lie down on carpets after a sterilisation procedure, ANI reported on 14 November.
The incident occurred at Satna Nagaur Community Health Centre. When asked about the negligence, the centre officials told ANI that the women were made to lay down on the carpets as the hospital ward was being renovated. “When I inquired about it I was told that the room is being repaired and there were many patients. So they were made to lie down on carpets on floors. They should have given them beds. I have given them strict instructions,” DN Gaurtam, Satna CMHO said.
An investigation has been ordered in the matter by the state health department citing gross negligence.

Singh also added, "We are already introducing and implementing various schemes to aid people but such incidents give a chance to people to complain. The sensitivity towards children and women should be higher. We have recently appointed more than 700 doctors."
This is not the first time that a mass sterilisation has been botched up. In 2014, a number of women died in a mass sterilisation camp in Chhattisgarh. These incidents continue to occur despite the Supreme Court asking the government to shut such camps down.
